I completed my yoga training alongside Wing Tsou, a wonderful practitioner and person. When she was ready to launch her personal brand, she reached out and explained her vision to me. Her work encompasses two distinct paths: her creative lighting services and her spiritual wellbeing services. She wanted the two to be presented in a creative way so that viewers could perceive the two distinct parts of herself. Wing also has a Taiwanese background, which comes through strongly in her aesthetic taste and approach.
So with her direction in mind, I designed her logo (the silhouette of the lotus is based on one of her tattoos), as well as her entire site. We also collaborated on the copy of her site, as English is her second language. The presentation of the two "gates" to her work, Jyoti Creative and Jyoti Spirit, is represented using kintsugi as inspiration. Kintsugi is a Japanese art in which broken pieces of pottery are mended using gold to seal the cracks. Jyoti is the Sanskrit word for "light" so both Wing and I thought using Kintsugi and its golden hue mapped perfectly onto her budding brand.
